School can be a lot of fun, but it can be challenging, too. That’s especially true for girls in Uganda, where an education can be difficult to receive. However, many find a way to overcome obstacles and complete their education. In this book you’ll find the stories of many Ugandan women who worked hard to finish school.

They have used their education to do amazing things in their lives. They didn’t let hardships prevent them from getting the most powerful tool a girl can have -- an education. They show what is possible when you stay in school. Many of these inspiring females want all Ugandan girls to know that girls can and should finish school and that they can accomplish great deeds.

This project originally began as a short book for children of approximately 10 years of age in schools in Uganda that was finished in early 2020, before the pandemic, as part of an Illinois Global Scholar capstone project. The pandemic made shipping the books impossible at that time, so the stories were posted online, making it easier for everyone to read and be inspired by them. These women are wonderful role models to all. You can read about their educational journeys in either English or Luganda (using the drop down menu under stories).
